A feasibility study can be as simple as determining the impacts and cost of replacing a piece of equipment in a process. A typical study we see would be a plant expansion possibly running a new product or adding the ability to load or receive material from trucks or rail cars. Whatever the case may be, we are here to help. We can start from the napkin sketch and develop a process flow diagram if required and develop a handful of options. We can model these options in 3D and run preliminary calculations as required to determine the feasibility of each option. The remaining feasible options can be provided with a capital cost estimate to help our client determine the best path forward.
Our engineers and design staff have many years experience engineering, cost estimating and developing feasibility studies for our clients. If you have an existing facility, part of the study may include a form and fit evaluation where we model the existing structure and fit the new process within the structure. We are well versed in many disciplines and can provide ingenious solutions that we are confident we can build. At the end of the study, we can provide basic engineering, cost estimating, preliminary calculations, a 3D model and general arrangement drawings. Often times clients have other factors they may need evaluated as part of the study including:
- Air quality permits
- Rail road approvals
- Environmental permits
- Water permits or historical preservation
- Capital cost estimating
- Timing studies
- Bottleneck evaluations
- Fit and spatial layout
- Hazard analysis
- Operator Safety
At the end of the study we will compile all of our findings and recommendations and provide a package ready for detailed engineering to begin. A feasibility study is a valuable step in the process
as it also helps define the scope of a project. Taking the time up front to better evaluate options and costs of a project before getting into detailed engineering has proven to be a successful model for us.
We can work together to determine what has the most value for your project and focus our energy on coming up with an ingenious solution.
